Key Thought for this session:

“If any outcome of life is acceptable to me, then any path will get me there.”

We live in an exciting world because of the tremendous advances in technology. BUT, have you ever wondered why advances in science and technology have not had any lasting impact on corruption, or broken marriages, global conflict, war, crime, and many other troubles in our world that make life miserable for so many? Through advances in technology, access to knowledge is at the highest level in the history of the world and growing rapidly every day. More change has occurred this decade than ever before. You can get content about some topic in seconds. Look at this course. The ability to train thousands around the world on worldview could not have happened like this just 10 years ago. Knowledge has provided communities with benefits of economic growth and higher standards of living, but there is still so much fear and anxiety, guilt and shame, prejudice, depression, and sadness. How might our view of knowledge, truth, and faith help us successfully address these challenges? THAT’s the question that can help us better understand, “Which way is up?”

In addressing a crowd of young people in Argentina, former President of the United States, Barack Obama, said this, “Those [capitalism, socialism, communism] are interesting intellectual arguments, but I think for your generation, you should be practical and just choose from what works. You don’t have to worry about whether it really fits into socialist theory or capitalist theory. You should just decide what works.” If I’m looking for which way is up, are all economic systems “UP”? Or “DOWN”? What do you think?
